The Filbert Cottages

This project restores four humble Landmarked 1906 ‘Earthquake Cottages’ into four unique residences situated in a rebuilt garden ‘mews’. Sitting atop an 8 car subterranean garage accessed by a vehicle lift, the cottages retain their original ‘stacked’ relationship to the street. A restrained addition, clad in zinc, running the depth of the property allows for expansion of the original 20′x30′ floor plate.  The main living level for each unit is the middle level just beneath the roof of each cottage. (Expected Completion 2014)
